Counterfeiting is a huge issue for industries. This goes for brands and customers, especially those that have high-end products.   It can be a big issue for a lot of bigger brands, since people want to make a quick buck giving out fake products.

But if you allow counterfeiting on brands and customers, it can cause distrust to form, and some companies have taken a measure in their packaging to really prevent this. Well, now there are RFID tags, and other authentication that brands can do for their products to prevent this. Another one is using the blockchain. Whenever a person purchases some of the items that you offer, they get put directly on the blockchain, offering authentication for different items.

It’s a good thing to add, and for a lot of brands, it saves their products from being stolen by those who will only copy them and steal profits. 



The benefits and Drawbacks 

Now, we wouldn’t have to use anti-counterfeiting measures, but sadly the world is not always a nice place. There’s a lot of companies that get their items stolen and are made with cheap materials.

Big companies like Gucci for example might not care as much, but if you’re a brand starting out, the last thing you want is for your items and hard work to be copied so poorly. With that said, anti-counterfeiting items are good for improvement of product security. People feel peace of mind when they get an item like this.

In turn, it bolsters trust. Consumers feel more trusted when they are able to get some proof that their items are legitimate.   So yes, it’s good for customer morale and support too.

There are, however, a few things that you need to consider when putting this in. First, the technology integration. There are a lot of great ways to do this, and some of them are more affordable than others. While the blockchain might be the most secure manner, it’s hard for a company that’s starting out to have this type of setup. Because of that, it might be better for you to use holograms or inks and put them on the product. 



Ensuring that it doesn’t take away from the product is also a big part of it. remember as well that these products are meant to bolster trust, and you want to do so in a way that doesn’t look unseemly.

In the same vein, the costs are also a huge part of it. ensure that you’re not trying to put too much money into it that you don’t have. opt for a cheaper measure as you increase sales, and then try to go for the more technology-focused types of means to offer anti-counterfeit measures for your various products.
